Raw Snacks and Hemp Seeds


The Date: Thursday, August 18
The Delivery: Tins filled with raw macaroons, granola, and candied pecans from Hail Merry and Hemp Hearts sprouted hemp seeds and a t-shirt from Manitoba Harvest
Staff Pick: The pecans! Lots of 'em!

The DL: We first fell in love with Hail Merry at last year's Expo West, and rekindled our love at 2011's show as well (What can we say? The raw tarts are killer). Well, looks like it happened again. Hail Merry's tin of lemon thyme, orange rosemary, chimayo chili, and chocolate chili pecans look so good, our next taste test might be more of an inhale test. Oat Shakes and Macaroons

The Delivery: Chocolate and tropical fruit OatShakes from Simpli and pomegranate, pistachio, vanilla, and cacao macaroons from Ecoterra Raw Market
Staff Pick: The macaroons!

The DL: It might be sunny and (almost) warm outside the VNHQ today, but getting these little bite-sized babies made us think of bundling up on the wintery streets of Paris. We can't help but hope that one bite will transport us to a fashionable café on the Champs-Élysées, where we will find ourselves surrounded by a mound of vegan macaroons and espresso. Speaking of being fashionable, make sure to check out some animal-free winter fashion for keeping warm in style. Au revior!

Books and Raw Goodies

Staff Pick: Blonde Macaroons, Chocolate Cherry Macadamia Cookies, Vanilla Crispies, and Buckwheat and Hemp Granola from One Lucky Duck

The DL: For a federal holiday, we certainly managed to receive a decent collection of goodies! Among the books (Comfortably Unaware, E3 For Life, and a gorgeous hardcover edition of the book we discussed in the VegNews Book Club last month, Animal Camp), but of course, our pick goes to the edibles. These raw goodies from One Lucky Duck in New York City are tantalizing in their adorable packaging and delicious-sounding varieties. The macaroons are especially tempting, much like the offerings in our brand-new VegNews Holiday Cookbook. Check it out!

Macaroon Madness

Staff Pick: The Mint Chip Macaroons

The DL: Some VN staffers—not to name any names—have a thing for the color green, hence the staff pick. Not to mention that mint-chocolate-chip is one of the best flavors in the world, which is why we can't wait to give these naturally colored macaroons a try!

Sweet Ladybug

The Delivery: More baked goods from Pure Sweets, a new vegan bakery in Philadelphia
Staff Pick: Every product from this bakery looks incredible, but the Ladybug bars just look too good to pass up

The DL: Vegan bakeries are on the rise, as you can see by the vast amount of baked goods being delivered to the VNHQ. We are seriously going into sugar-induced comas right now, but that is not a complaint!
