An Apron and Spices

The Date: Monday, July 25
The Delivery: Spices from The Delicious Dietitian and a cheeky apron from Pom Wonderful
Staff Pick: The Creole seasoning

The DL: Today was a day of spicy deliveries, both literally and figuratively. We hope the phrase "big things come in small packages" rings true with this Creole seasoning, giving a normal meal of rice and beans a Cajun kick. While some of us are simple/lazy/untalented chefs, VN Editorial Assistant Hilary's "rice and beans" is "homemade gnocchi and heirloom tomato salad." Read more about Hilary's delicious lunch on Café VegNews!

a
The DL: We don't know about all of you out there in Internetville, but we are proud to say that we always have a monster appetite. From birthday cakes to deep-dish pizza, there's no plate we can't tackle. And this new cookbook is no different: We can't wait to try out Chorizo Flautas, Hawaiian Benedict, and Peanut Butter Rocky Road Pound Cakes. For breakfast.

Makeup and Vegan Truffles

The Date: Monday, May 23
The Delivery: Concealer from Larenim Mineral and a Truffle Sampler from Super Foxy Sweets
Staff Pick: The truffles!

The DL: We are already pretty darn full from birthday cake, but with flavors like Cinnamon Chili Blood Orange and Pistachio Cardamom, we'll make room to taste test these sweets. Planning on marrying your sweet? (For the record, we mean another person, not an edible truffle.) Tune in to our next VegNews Twitter Chat tomorrow at 6pm PT and find out how to throw the perfect vegan wedding! We'll be chatting with some of this year's VegNews wedding couples, as well as the real-life couple behind vegan-catering business Local Love. Hope to see you there!

Jam and Vegan Desserts

The Date: Wednesday, May 4
The Delivery: Assorted cupcakes, cookies, doughnuts, and more from Dirty Vegan Foods and fruit compote from Bouncing Berry Farms
Staff Pick: The vegan mini doughnuts!

The DL: A burrito-filled lunch with Jolinda Hackett, writer for About.com, plus Alejandro and Nikhil from Best-of-Show-winning Back to the Roots, has made for one fantastic Wednesday, and these mini doughnuts were the icing on the cake. Strawberry glazes, chocolate, and coconut are just the tip of the vegan-doughnut iceberg, and we can't wait to sink in while working on our better-than-ever July+August issue. Want to make sure you get the July+August issue before everyone else? Today is the last day to subscribe in time, so head on over to the VegNews store and nab a subscription today!

A Book and Soap

The Date: Friday, April 22
The Delivery: Making Supper Safe by Ben Hewitt and The Fabulous Flora soap from Metropolis Soap Co.
Staff Pick: Making Supper Safe

The DL: While it might be a little heavy for beach reading (sorry, it's Friday and we're fantasizing), Ben Hewitt's new book exploring the state of the US' food-safety system is sure to be thought-provoking, illuminating, and downright gross at times. For our own look at food safety (or lack thereof), check out Mat Thomas' piece "Fear Factor" in our brand-spanking new May+June issue. Happy weekend, beach or no beach!

Cleaners, a Book, and Crêpes

The Date: Thursday, April 14
The Delivery: Fruit and vegetable cleaners from Eat Cleaner, Vegan Bite by Bite by Marilyn Peterson, and lentil crêpes/dosas from Health 'n Spice
Staff Pick: Eat Cleaner's fruit and vegetable wash

The DL: After reading Mat Thomas' article about food recalls in our May+June issue, all of us here at VNHQ have been more careful when washing our fruits and veggies. It's a shame we just had lunch, because we can't wait to use this all-natural spray, which removes not only wax, residue, and pesticides, but also cleans hands, countertops, and silverware! If that's not a sanitary bang for our buck, we're not sure what is. Wish you could spend your whole day with fruits and vegetables (and no, we don't just mean eating them)? Check out our featurette on sustainable food jobs to find out about all kinds of food-focused vocations!

Cleaning Products

The Date: Friday, March 25
The Delivery: Lots of cleaning products from Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day
Staff Pick: The lemon-verbena scented hand soap

The DL: Happy Friday from all of us at VN! Spring has officially sprung, and you know what that means: sunbathing! Opps, we mean, spring cleaning! With this host of all-natural goodies, we're sure to have one spic and span office (not to mention some lemon-scented hands). If you've already cleaned out your home (you over-achiever, you) and find yourself in need of some new items to spruce up your pad, check out VN Associate Editor Jennifer Chen's guide to decorating for less on Savvy Vegan. While you're kicking back, make sure to check out VegNews Book Club for Kathy Freston answering readers' questions. And take a breather already, yeesh.

Books, Beauty, and a Vegan Purse

The Date: Wednesday, March 23
The Delivery: The Self Health Revolution by J. Michael Zenn, shaving foams from eco-armour, and the Hermes-Inspired Textured Birkin bag by Bello Iris
Staff Pick: The Self Health Revolution

The DL: We know, we know. Picking a book over that beautiful bag? That's like choosing to eat a head of iceberg lettuce instead of cupcakes. But stick with us for a second. This new book says it will tell us how to extend our lives by 15 years, get rid of aches and pains forever, and three things we can do to stay fit and thin for the rest of our lives! Plus, this week at VN we're getting pretty booked up. From Monday's delivery, to VN Publisher Joe Connelly's book-brainstorming session with bestselling author Jeffrey Masson, to our visit with the author himself yesterday (he gave us signed copies of his latest!), we can't seem to get enough of them.

Vegan Cookbook

The Date: Thursday, March 3
The Delivery: The Natural Vegan Kitchen by Christine Waltermyer
Staff Pick: The Natural Vegan Kitchen

The DL: It's a bit of a slow day for deliveries here at VNHQ, but that's okay with us: after a huge lunch at Herbivore with VN columnist (and Vegansaurus founder) Laura Hooper Beck, we're moving a little slowly, too. While we can't deny that we would have enjoyed a three-ton delivery of vegan chocolate bars, we are excited to check out this new cookbook, a host of recipes that highlight vegan and macrobiotic diets. We wonder if there's a recipe that involves three tons of vegan chocolate bars. Probably not.

Snack Bars and Botanical Water

The Date: Tuesday, March 1
The Delivery: A box of The Simply Snack from Wellness Foods, Inc. and botanical water in assorted flavors from Bolthouse Farms
Staff Pick: The grapefruit sage botanical water

The DL: Oh my gosh, seriously. Between today's delicious pizza lunch, a huge shipment of Sjaak's vegan candy bars to the VegNews Store (Want to score a few? Enter This Week's Giveaway!), and majorly sweet leftovers from Friday's haul, we are in need for a little bit of a cleanse. Enter: grapefruit sage botanical water. Just saying those four words whisks us away to a beach-front spa where we can lounge around in cushy bathrobes and doze during lavender facials. Not bad for a bottle of liquid. Cheers, and we'll see you in Massage Room B.

Deodorants Galore

The Date: Tuesday, February 15
The Delivery: All-natural roll-on deodorant, deodorant sticks, and towelettes from Crystal Body Deodorant
Staff Pick: The lavender and white tea towelettes

The DL: If we didn't know that we were going to be getting a generous helping of all-natural deodorants for an upcoming project (did someone say May+June issue?), we would think that the post office was trying to tell us something. Nevertheless, we bet we will be able to smell so fresh and so clean (clean) all day long with these portable, lavender-sentented towelettes. Post-lunch jog, anyone? (Speaking of lunch, check out Managing Editor Elizabeth's tips on how to make a delicious salad on the cheap on VN's Savvy Vegan blog.)

Vegan Burgers and Beauty Products

The Date: Thursday, February 3
The Delivery: Asherah's Gourmet vegan burgers in original and chipotle; and mineral makeup and toner from KSS Professional
Staff Pick: The vegan burgers

The DL: You would think that after a Chinese New Year lunch filled with dumplings, veggies, and tofu, that more food would be the last thing on our minds. Then we probably haven't met, because the VN staff is all food, all the time (except when we're making an award-winning website, planning awesome vacations, and creating beautiful magazine issues). Actually, we think about food even when we're doing all of those things. We are looking forward to trying these quinoa-based burgers while we work. And yes, eating vegan burgers is in our job description.

Vegan Caesar Dressing and Beauty Products

The Date: Monday, January 31
The Delivery: Non-Dairy Caesar Organic Dressing from OrganicVille and assorted skincare and haircare products from Sparkle! Naturals
Staff Pick: The dressing!

The DL: We here at VNHQ love our greens. From salads to tacos to green juice, we just can't get enough. Did you hear? Sounds like Oprah (and almost 400 of her employees) are digging the green stuff toocheck out how they all went vegan for a week on her show tomorrow! As such, we are always excited for the arrival of another way to spice up our salad bowls. Hello! How often do you find vegan Caesar dressing? Here's to our next lunch break, where we will be drizzling this gluten-free gem all over our spinach and sprouts.

Skin Care and Soap and Books, Oh My!

The Date: Thursday, January 27
The Delivery: Liquid Soap Soother from Emily Skin Soothers, Earth Science's new Active Age Defense skincare line, Clean Start by Terry Walters, and two copies of The Bond by Wayne Pacelle
Staff Pick: The Active Age Defense Hydrating Day Cream

The DL: Who wouldn't want an ulta-moisturizing day cream for these harsh winter months? We are excited to slather the contents of this jar on our faces in the hopes that it will make our skin look gorgeous for tonight. What are the VN staffers up to, you ask? Not only are we (along with our friends at Vegansaurus) hosting the first SF Vegan Drinks of the year, but we are also attending Gracias Madre's one year anniversary! If you don't follow Café VegNews, we eat there. A lot. And we love it. A lot.

It's the Holiday Season!

The Date: Thursday, December 2
The Delivery: Gorgeous poinsettias!
Staff Pick: Our new office decorations of the red and festive kind.

The DL: Do you know what transforms us from "It's too early and cold"-scrooge to "Oh my goodness, the holidays are here"-happy? Coming into the VNHQ on a cold San Francisco morning and finding each of our desks adorned with very pretty poinsettias, courtesy of VegNews Publisher, Joseph Connelly. Do you know what makes that day even better? When Office Manager Lyndsay Orwig shares her VegNews Macaroni & Cheese for lunch, and then we have Frankie's delicious chocolate-covered nuts and dates for dessert.

Pudding and a Book

The Date: Thursday, October 21
The Delivery: Puddings and a book
Staff Pick: Vegan puddings from Comfy House Foods

The DL: Yesterday we were dying for an afternoon snack, but we at least had Honest Tea to tide us over. Today, however, we are the happy recipients of snack-tastic new vegan puddings from Comfy House Foods. With varieties such as Quinoa & Blueberry and Banana & Coconut, we don't see why these treats can't be served for breakfast, snack-time, or afternoon dessert-time (which, by the way, is one of the most important meals of the day). Comfy House recommend eating these puddings warmed, which sounds like the perfect antidote to a brisk San Francisco fall day, much like today's lunch on Café VegNews.

Honest Tea

The Date: Wednesday, October 20
The Delivery: Tea galore!
Staff Pick: New selections from our pals at Honest Tea

The DL: Full disclosure: this all came in on Friday, and we (and by we, I mean the official kombucha connoisseurs of the VNHQ, Gabrielle Pope and Lyndsay Orwig) have been hyped on Honest Tea's new kombucha varieties ever since. Honest Tea's local rep Zac Taylor is our new hero, gifting us with not only two full cases of kombucha, but also other Honest Tea delights such as Limeade and Cranberry Lemonade for those other crazy VegNews staffers who don't care for the 'bucha. One such staffer is Managing Editor Elizabeth Castoria, who redeems herself with a enviable delicious Café VegNews lunch featuring both salad and an Amy's Kitchen pot pie.

New Products and Adorable Napkins

The Date: Tuesday, October 5
The Delivery: Raw granola, cookies, and kale crisps from The Cook & Butler, Silver Hills sprouted hempseed bread, and cute napkins
Staff Pick: Veggie character napkins from Home Deconomics

The DL: This past weekend's 11th Annual San Francisco World Veg Festival (read about it on Press Pass!) featured a slew of great new vegan products, among them being these assorted delights from The Cook & Butler. The pick, however, goes to the thoughtful gift from our dear friends Jenny and Heather Goldberg at Spork Foods. The lovely sisters sent us these adorable linens from Home Deconomics as an office-warming gift. I don't know if you noticed, but they (and by they, we of course mean both the sisters and the napkins) are pretty damn cute.

Straws!

The Date: Monday, October 4
The Delivery: Glass Dharma Glass Straws
Staff Pick: All of the straws, ready for sipping.

The DL: As we inch closer and closer to a more eco-friendly way of life, everyday objects are transforming to new and improved sustainable versions of themselves. Today, VN received a shipment of glass straws, far more earth-friendly than their plastic counterparts. We can't wait to test them out with our respective Diet Cokes, Red Bulls, Kombuchas, or water this week, all of which are a staple to our delicious lunches. Slurps up!

This Just In: VegNews Staffers

The Date: Tuesday, September 28
The Delivery: VegNews staffers to the new office
Staff Pick: NEW OFFICES!

The DL: You may have heard that today is our first day in our new space, and we're pretty darn happy about it. Mail might be a little slow, but we're finding it hard to care on such an exciting day. Enjoy a sneak peek at our swanky space, with plenty of windows to let in the beautiful fall sunshine that we didn't get a whole lot of in the Outer Sunset district. Though the photos don't do it justice since the whole building would require a photo essay, above is our lovely reception room, and below is part of the editorial room. VegNews is moving onwards and upwards!
