Allergy-Free Vegan Cookies, Soy Creamer, and a Book

The Delivery: Cybele's Free-to-Eat allergy-free cookies, SoyGo creamer from Saving Opus One, and Main Street Vegan by Victoria Moran
Staff Pick: Main Street Vegan

The DL: All of us here at VegNews are huge fans of Victoria Moran, and we're delighted about her new book! Main Street Vegan isn't just preaching about the many benefits of veganism (though, as we all know, there are many)—it's showing everyone on Main Street (remember that?) how easy it is to be vegan, no matter where you live or how much money you make. We have a feeling this will be gifted to a lot of reluctant friends and family come birthdays, holidays, Tuesdays...

The Delivery: Mama Jess' organic pasta sauces, chocolate chip, oatmeal, peanut butter, and double-chocolate cookies from Isabella's Cookie Company, a Daiya apron, and The Autism Puzzle by Brita Belli
Staff Pick: The cookies!

The DL: After days of savory snacking, we were pining for something to sate our collective sweet tooth. Enter Isabella's Cooking Company, which sent us products from its vegan cookie line—an act that caused a chorus of cheers to erupt throughout VNHQ. Some VN staffers are eagerly anticipating the arrival of The Hunger Games (starring vegan actor Woody Harrelson!), which hits theaters tonight at midnight, but there are several other intriguing movies out this spring. Check out our film-festival faves here!

The DL: Today we hit the gluten-free jackpot. Every single one of these freshly baked treats are soft and and look scrumptious—so much so, in fact, that many of the staff voraciously demanded a taste test post-blogging. Even as this intrepid VN staffer types, others are circling the Conscience Confections goodies like, well, VN staffers over any baked good. It's what we do. Staff Pick: Pizza!

The DL: Since we just finished up the cover design for the January+February issue, we can now throw a pizza party! Then again, when isn’t there a reason to throw a pizza party? Speaking of parties, our annual Thanksgiving luncheon was announced today. Sticky Fingers Sweet Treats

The Delivery: Multiple boxes of cookies, brownies, and whoopie pies from DC’s Sticky Fingers Bakery
Staff Pick: Pumpkin whoopie pies

The DL: Seriously, Sticky Fingers? Pumpkin whoopie pies? You know a way to these vegan magazine editors’ hearts. In fact, anything pumpkin-flavored will win us over. While Editorial Assistant Hilary Pollack kicked off squash season with “Pumpkin Five Ways,” we’re all thankful that there are infinite ways to incorporate pumpkin into every part of mealtime. Whether it’s Sunset magazine’s vegan pumpkin curry, pumpkin pizza from Los Angeles, or a batch of classic Pumpkin Spice Cookies, we can’t get enough of the ubiquitous big orange squash.

Strawberry-Lemonade Cookie

The Delivery: Strawberry-Lemonade cookie from the Alternative Baking Company, Inc.
Staff Pick: The cookie!

The DL: On days like today, we generally sip hot tea and feast on any sort of stew, curry, or soup, as do 74 percent of people who voted on our rainy day staple survey. Despite the constant rain and chilly breeze, the flavors of this cookie remind us of long-lost summer sunshine. Since fall has officially arrived, we’re digging all of the pumpkin-flavored foods pretty much everywhere—pumpkin ale, pie, coffee, doughnuts, everything! Check out Pumpkin Five Ways on VegNews.com to really get filled with the pumpkin spirit. Enjoy.

Cookies and Crumbs

The Date: Monday, August 15
The Delivery: New cookies and crumbs from Mary's Gone Crackers
Staff Pick: The crumbs

The DL: After Friday's lackluster post, we're thrilled to be back in the swing of things here at the VNHQ. Thankfully, we received a huge delivery of goodies from Mary's Gone Crackers. We already love this brand for their namesake crackers, and we're enticed by the idea of breading seitan with the savory crumbs. Or, to be more specific, we're enticed by the idea of someone else breading seitan with the crumbs, then making a marinara, and then serving the dish right now in our office. Just in case anyone was wondering.

A Cookbook, Pizza, and Sticky Fingers

The Date: Thursday, June 9
The Delivery: Eat Vegan on $4 a Day by Ellen Jaffe Jones, vegan frozen pizza from Tofutti, and assorted baked goods from Sticky Fingers Bakery
Staff Pick: The box of baked treats!

The DL: The best gifts are those that keep on giving, especially if those gifts are boxes filled with some of the best vegan sweets money can buy. Birthday lady and VN Managing Editor Elizabeth received this goodie box in the mail today, the contents of which include Cowvin Cookies, Little Devils, and brownies, not to mention chocolate chip, pecan, and oatmeal raisin cookies. Let's just say we usually take the photos for This Just In after lunch, but after this morning's delivery, we made an exception.

The Date: Friday, February 25
The Delivery: Jurlique's Purely White skin brightening line, assorted roll-on deodorants from Kiss My Face, and vanilla raspberry cake, cookies, and muffins from Everyday Gourmet

We're even bigger fans of homemade vegan cake with icing and raspberry sauce when we get to put as much of the icing and raspberry sauce on top as we want (and yes, it will be the entire bag). Everyday Gourmet’s treats really sweetened up our Friday, and we can’t wait to dive in. Need something else to dive into this weekend? Why not three issues of VegNews for only $10?! We look forward to trying this offer from Glow Naturals, and hope that upon opening the jar, lavendar-flavored sugar cookies magically appear.

Vanilla Deliciousness

The Date: Thursday, November 4
The Delivery: Cookies and new Arbonne body and skin care products
Staff Pick: Alternative Baking Company's new Simply Vanilla Bean Cookie of the Season

The DL: Maybe we're a little bit excited about the upcoming holidays (it's almost December, people!), or maybe we just happened to revisit last year's VegNews Holiday Cookie Collection, but this seasonal Vanilla Bean cookie threw us into a fit of holiday anticipation. Also, it's a vegan cookie made by the 2010 Veggie Awards winners Alternative Baking Company, so it's going to be delicious. You wouldn't know it's nearing the holidays in this crazy San Franciscan heat (we know you're jealous, sorry!), but we'll devour classic vanilla vegan cookies anytime!

New Products and Adorable Napkins

The Date: Tuesday, October 5
The Delivery: Raw granola, cookies, and kale crisps from The Cook & Butler, Silver Hills sprouted hempseed bread, and cute napkins
Staff Pick: Veggie character napkins from Home Deconomics

The DL: This past weekend's 11th Annual San Francisco World Veg Festival (read about it on Press Pass!) featured a slew of great new vegan products, among them being these assorted delights from The Cook & Butler. The pick, however, goes to the thoughtful gift from our dear friends Jenny and Heather Goldberg at Spork Foods. The lovely sisters sent us these adorable linens from Home Deconomics as an office-warming gift. I don't know if you noticed, but they (and by they, we of course mean both the sisters and the napkins) are pretty damn cute.

Queso, Cookies, and Nut Butters

The Date: Friday, September 17
The Delivery: Vegan queso from a Nacho Mom, Bountiful Vegan cookies that care about our well-being, and poetic nut butters from Wilderness Poets; a whole slew of cleverly-marketed delicious-sounding products!
Staff Pick: Nacho Mom's Vegan Queso

The DL: There's something about Friday afternoon that screams queso, beer, and a patio. Since there's nothing but fog out here in the Outer Sunset neighborhood of San Francisco, and beer will have to wait until post-work, we're cracking open a jar of what Nacho Mom promises us will be the "ultimate vegan queso." As for the weekend, Associate Publisher Colleen Holland took off early to jet to PDX for the VegNews sponsored Portland VegFest 2010. Make sure to stop by the VegNews booth and say hi if you're lucky enough to be living in or visiting the vegan mecca of the Northwest!

The Delivery: Some freshly baked goods from our lovely lunch-guests
Staff Pick: The cookies and cinnamon rolls from Nabolom Bakery

The DL: We welcomed two guests to Café VegNews today, and they were so kind as to bring some treats from this vegan-friendly bakery in Oakland. We have to admit that we've already broken into these sweets, and yes, our sweet-teeth are satisfied.

Sweet Afternoon

Date: Wednesday, June 3
The Delivery: Some sweetness from Sweet & Sara in the form of marshmallows and rocky- road bark as well as some inspirational cookies
Staff Pick: The hand-delivered Inspired Cookies

The DL: With flavors as varied as Coconut Key Lime Cayenne and Double Chocolate Ginger Chunk, we can't wait to dig into this box. Touted as "cookies with intention," each flavor is labeled with its own emotion, such as "excitement," "warmth," and "tranquility." We feel inspired already!

Speaking of sweets, head over to VegNews.com for your chance to win some new Go Max Go Foods Candy Bars.

Crazy for Cookies

Date: Wednesday, November 5
The Delivery: Vegan allergen-free cookies
Staff Pick: Home Free Treats cookies claim to be safe for kids—and the young at heart—with common food allergies

The DL: There may not be any kids running around here, but at VNHQ, we sure do like our sweets. The mini chocolate chip variety looks especially enticing, and we kinda like that they aren't loaded with calories. Now, pass that box over here!
