Vegan Breakfast Snacks

The Delivery: Trail mix bites from Milton's Craft Bakers, Green Tara Spirulina Crunchies, Rawxies' raw cookies, and granola bars from The GoodOnYa Bar.
Staff Pick: The Rawxies!

The DL: We were intrigued by these bite-sized (and adorably named) raw goodies, which, according to the manufacturer, are “the foxy way to snack.” We’re not sure how literally Rawxies meant that, but it just so happens that these treats are full of almonds, bananas, and chocolate—three delicious vegan aphrodisiacs. Scintillating snacks with ingredients like these may come in handy after you try out one of our Top 10 Veg Pickup Lines, which are a surefire way to break the ice (or break your nose, depending on who your audience is). But don’t worry if the pickup lines don’t seal the deal: where words fail, ethically sourced flowers prevail!

A Cookbook, Music, and Granola Bars

The Delivery: A galley of Let Them Eat Vegan! by Dreena Burton, Joy Askew's album Drunk on You, and dark chocolate mint granola bars from Earnest Eats
Staff Pick: Let Them Eat Vegan!

The DL: Let them eat vegan? Heck yeah! How could you eat anything else when vegan recipes like Chipotle Avocado Cream, White Bean Sweet Potato Pasta, and Chai Peanut Butter Ice Cream exist? And lucky for all of us, all three (and 197 others) are ripe for the cooking in Dreena Burton's new book. We can't wait to dig deeper. Let Them Eat Vegan! is available March 15; In the meantime, pick up one of our top 10 vegan cookbooks of 2011 for some right-now deliciousness. Now, can someone send us a cake or something? We're hungry.

Peanut Butter to the Rescue!

The Date: Tuesday, March 9
The Delivery: Several boxes of granola bars (three non-vegan)
Staff Pick: The Peanut Choco Organic granola bar from Nature's Path

The DL: Three of these granola bars contain yogurt, but fortunately the majority are vegan, which makes us very happy. These make a super mid-day snack, as you can see from the already opened box.

Tasty Delights

The Date: Friday, March 5
The Delivery: Vegan ice cream, a non-vegan granola bar from 18 Rabbits, and Where the Blind Horse Sings: Love and Healing at an Animal Sanctuary by Kathy Stevens
Staff Pick: The dark chocolate Alkemie Ice Cream

The DL: We first tried Alkemie's tasty ice cream back in December, and we liked it so much that we included it as a VegPick in our March+April issue. Needless to say, we weren't mad when Alkemie decided to gift us another batch of this chocolaty treat.

Book Behind Bars

Date: Monday, March 1
The Delivery: Clif Crunch granola bars (including one non-vegan flavor), two personal care products by Avalon Organics, and Made for Each Other: The Biology of the Human-Animal Bond by Meg Daley Olmert
Staff Pick: The White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Clif Crunch granola bars

The DL: We love granola bars here at the VNHQ, and Clif's latest crunchy, on-the-go snack is no exception. We've chosen the White Chocolate Macadamia Nut as our favorite, which we feel needs no explanation. You can bet that we'll be in line when these tasty pocket-sized treats hit shelves this summer. Would these have made a splendidly sweet dessert to have followed today's super savory lunch? All signs point to yes.

Nice to Meet Ya, Babycakes

Date: Friday, May 8
The Delivery: A most delicious-looking cookbook, some reduced-fat Vegenaise, and several ALPSNACK granola bars
Staff Pick: We want to eat the cupcakes on the cover of this BabyCakes book—like right now!

The DL: Erin McKenna presents us with a vegan, gluten-free, baked-goods cookbook that looks really awesome. We are feeling the need to make every single recipe in this book, and then eat until our fingers are licked clean. This book just goes to show that every city needs a vegan bakery—no ifs, ands, or buts about it!
