Vegan and Gluten-Free Frozen Foods, Books, and Masala Chai

The Delivery: Masala chai from Blue Lotus Chai, lasagna and wraps from Amy's KitchenQuick and Easy Vegan Slow Cooking by Carla Kelly, and The American Way of Eating by Tracie McMillan.
Staff Pick: Amy's new frozen foods

The DL: Veggie lasagna with Daiya cheese that's ready in five minutes? We've died and gone to heaven. We always appreciate Amy's for making it easy-as-frozen-vegan-Shepherd's-Pie to eat cruelty-free (and tastily, at that), and can't wait to taste test these new frozen foods. Vegan Books and Veggie Burgers

The Date: Monday, May 2
The Delivery: The Chicken Chronicles by Alice Walker, Quick and Easy Vegan Bake Sale by Carla Kelly, and a box filled with the new Ultimate Beefless Burger from Gardein
Staff Pick: The veggie burger!

The DL: We first tried this new creation from Gardein at this year's Expo West, and we think it's safe to say being reunited really does feel so good. Flavorful, healthy, and downright massive, these patties would be a great addition to any springtime barbecue. In case all that time in the sunshine has you parched (not to mention a little woozy), reach for some coconut water: it is packed with electrolytes to keep your bod hydrated and happy. Learn more about the coconut and all it can offer (Curries! Cooking oil! Deodorant!) in our new food feature.

Flip Flops, a Wallet, and Cookbooks

The Date: Friday, January 28
The Delivery: Flip flops from Okabashi, a wallet from The Vegan Collection, Vegan Bake Sale by Carla Kelly, and Vegan Diner by Julie Hasson
Staff Pick: Vegan Diner

The DL: Happy Friday from the VNHQ! On this chilly day the office has been craving some seriously warm comfort foodjust the kind of stuff littering the pages of Julie Hasson's new cookbook. (Psst! You might find Julie in our upcoming March+April 2011 issue.) Not only do the french fries (and burger, and potato salad...) on the cover look great, but we love a good non-dairy milkshake as much as the next person. Speaking of milkshakes: want to know which non-dairy milk works best as a base for your next chocolate-Oreo shake? Check out our handy guide to non-dairy milks.
