The DL: Thanksgiving is right around the corner and we’re counting down the days to our annual holiday luncheon (just six left!). The main course will be a Native Foods Wellington and we couldn’t be more excited! One lucky reader will dine in VN-style with a Native Wellington, delivered to their door next week and that lucky reader could be you—just leave a comment on the giveaway page giving us the DL on your favorite Thanksgiving dessert. As a bonus, the giveaway also comes with a box of treats from Babycakes NYC. The DL: Since we just finished up the cover design for the January+February issue, we can now throw a pizza party! Then again, when isn’t there a reason to throw a pizza party? Speaking of parties, our annual Thanksgiving luncheon was announced today. Check out the photo album from last year’s event, which featured a Wellington from Native Foods Café, chocolate-peppermint bark, homemade cranberry sauce, and more. This highly anticipated lunch is staff-only, but we’re giving away eight incredible prizes to include you in on the fun! This week’s giveaway is a box of treats from Sticky Fingers, so submit your entry before Monday! Did someone say cookie party?

Curry and Gluten-Free Cookie Mixes

The DL: We've had a very special day here at VNHQ, what with our incredible Thanksgiving luncheon featuring the unrivaled Native Foods Wellington, so with food on the brain, it seems only fitting that we receive this shipment of gluten-free cookie mixes and the most adorable curry gift pack from Curry Love. The box included a candle, a beer, a white basmati rice along with their scrumptious-sounding Banana Ginger curry sauce. Back to the luncheon, Associate Publisher Colleen Holland also whipped up her incredible Holiday salad and a Pumpkin Cake with Vanilla Buttercream, both of which are from recipes in the VegNews Holiday Cookbook, and both of which are unbelievably delicious. The DL: After tasting some of the EcoVegan meat alternatives at both the SF World VegFest and the SF Green Festival, we were more than excited to receive these samples today. EcoVegan has created ready-to-serve meat alternatives containing non-GMO wheat and non-GMO soy, and they sound delicious! Come on, who doesn't love ready-prepared vegan convenience foods on those lazy nights when you want a stir-fry and you want it fast?
