Believe it or not, but it only took about three nanoseconds for us to realize that we have Dandies vegan marshmallows and plenty of chocolate bars in the VegNews Store. Double chocolate s'mores, anyone? Now that we mention it, you might be reading more about this delicious snack from us here at VN sooner than you think! The DL: Our May+June issue is currently at the presses, and while we are totally stoked about the issue, there was a lot of jealousy surrounding our wedding couples. Fabulous parties, beautiful scenery, and above all, mind-blowingly delicious menus? That's more than enough to turn the VN staff green with envy. On top of that, we send our wedding couples vegan chocolates and candles with their issues. No fair, we declare! But, luckily for us (and thanks to the wonderful folks at Boardwalk Chocolates), we get to try the same chocolates our wedding couples will be receiving in a few short weeks. Now if someone (you!?) could just send us some vegan wedding cake, we'd be all set.

The DL: It's a bit of a slow day for deliveries here at VNHQ, but that's okay with us: after a huge lunch at Herbivore with VN columnist (and Vegansaurus founder) Laura Hooper Beck, we're moving a little slowly, too. While we can't deny that we would have enjoyed a three-ton delivery of vegan chocolate bars, we are excited to check out this new cookbook, a host of recipes that highlight vegan and macrobiotic diets. We wonder if there's a recipe that involves three tons of vegan chocolate bars. Probably not.

Deodorant and Chocolate

The DL: Some things in life are no-brainers. Eat your veggies. Look both ways before crossing the street. Puppies are cute. Some things, however, are not. With six different delectable-sounding flavors, it was the Sophie's Choice of chocolate for today's Staff Pick. We decided to go with hazelnut because that's what we ended up pointing at while our eyes were closed. We haven't tried any yet, but as is evident by This Week's Must Have (chocolate) and an entire featurette on (you guessed it) chocolate, we'll probably be perfectly happy with all of them.

A Cookbook and Vegan Honey

The Date: Monday, February 14

The DL: Happy Valentine's Day from all of us at VNHQ! We hope you and your loved ones, whether they be people, companion animals, or your TV, are having a lovely day. We also hope your day is filled with sweets like those in Lickin' the Beaters 2. With entire sections devoted to candy (Peanut Butter Truffles?!), chocolate (Chocolate Marshmallow Almond Pie? Cue drooling), and "ice creem" in flavors like S'more and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, we can't wait to take this cookbook home and show it to our partners. And by "show it to our partners" we mean "ask our partners to take back the flowers and make a batch of Sweet Potato Chocolate Chip Cookies instead."

Chocolate Bars and a Book

The Date: Thursday, February 10

The Delivery: The Exultant Ark by Jonathan Balcombe and chocolate bars from Eli's Earth Bars in caramel, peanuts, and peanut butter; coconut and almonds; and peanut butter crunch with caramel

The DL: Adding these bars to the growing pile of chocolaty goodness we've received (chocolate sauce, chocolate cake, chocolate peanut butter cups...), we have to ask ourselves one question: Do we feel lucky? Abso-friggin'-lutely! While we may not be quite lucky enough to be visiting the Taj Mahal or checking out animals at Keoladeo National Park like the folks on VN's Great Adventure to India 2011, at least we can peruse their pictures while trying out these caramel, chocolate, and peanut butter concoctions.

Crazy Confections

The DL: These chocolates are almost as fancy as their artistically designed box. We're excited to see if they're as tasty as they look!

Staff Pick: The people over at Gnosis Chocolate are clearly highly intelligent beings as proven by their foresight at shipping us a gajillion boxes of raw chocolate—we like that

The DL: The ancient Aztecs knew that chocolate, or “xocoatl,” pronounced as “shoco-latle,” would become the only bean worshiped by vegan women, as evidenced by our pyramid-like chocolate bars formation.

Cacao Crazy

Date: Wednesday, September 24

The Delivery: Fair-trade, raw chocolate bars

Staff Pick: Willy Wonka would be proud to serve these golden-ticket-wrapped bars by Stirs The Soul

The DL: We are really hoping to reap the health benefits that come with consuming this antioxidant-rich, raw chocolate, or else we might feel guilty eating all these scrumptious treats.

Devoutly Decadent

Date: Thursday, September 18

The Delivery: Sumatran flying squirrel, hefty raw-chocolate bars, and edifying parrot tales

Staff Pick: Tempting truffles aside, we're intrigued by this 90-percent-cacao bar by Righteously Raw

The DL: How they do it, we don't know, but somehow these righteous chocolatiers used magic to create caramel-smothered truffles dipped in raw chocolate. We're not worthy!

Tricks and Treats

Date: Thursday, September 11

The Delivery: Eco books and ghoulishly gourmet chocolates

Staff Pick: Halloweeny peanut butter bites from Sjaak's Organic Chocolates

The DL: It's hard to believe All Hallows Eve is already fast-approaching! Gourmet ghouls all over will want to bring these organic, fair trade, vegan Halloween chocolates along for when they get the monster munchies.

Sensory Overload!

The Delivery: Utilitarian blender, totes, veggie peelers, tasty soy milks, awesome sandwich spread, crazy fudge, cute books, pro-activist DVDs, and green body products (phew!)

The DL: We had the motherlode of cool items delivered today, but consider us hypnotized the moment we laid eyes on this late arrival—new vegan fudge! There's one box for each of us, right?
