Vegan Chocolates

The Date: Monday, October 3
The Delivery: A gift of Sjaak's organic chocolates from Compassion Over Killing's Erica Meier
Staff Pick: Chocolate!

The DL: It was such a treat to get to hang out with Erica Meier at this weekend's World Vegetarian Festival here in San Francisco, and this delectable gift is really just a cherry on top of the delicious vegan sundae that was this weekend. While we had perfect fall weather Saturday and Sunday, today we're seeing nothing but rainclouds and chilly temps. Need something besides a sweater to keep you warm? This week's What's Cooking has you covered—the Sambar Lentil Stew is a spicy, savory way to embrace fall weather.

Staff PickQuick-Fix Vegan
a
The DL: We've been looking forward to receiving the draft of Robin Robertson's new cookbook for weeks: This lady is on her 21st cookbook for a reason. Tuscan Vegetable Tart and Chocolate Cheesecake Squares that can be made in 30 minutes or fewer? Challenge accepted. Keep on challenging your inner chef with some chocolate mousse, which just so happens to be this week's What's Cooking. Actually, it's super easy too, and healthy to boot!

Vegan Wallets and Soap

The Date: Monday, April 25
The Delivery: Vegan wallets from Big Skinny and assorted natural soaps from Wembé
Staff Pick: The passion fruit soap

The DL: This fruity and fragrant vegan soap is not only packed with all-natural Amazonian ingredients like passion fruit, but also includes the seeds of the tropical gem to help exfoliate knees and hands. Smooth skin that smells good enough to eat? Don't mind if we do. Except we would mind if you tried to take a bite out of us. That would be painful and a little awkward.

Vegan Candy, Tofu, Hummus, and Books

The Date: Thursday, March 24
The Delivery: Assorted vegan candies and caramels from Obsessive Confection Disorder, sprouted tofu and hummus from Nasoya, Soak Your Nuts by Karyn Calabrese, and The Literary Ladies' Guide to the Writing Life by Nava Atlas
Staff Pick: Obsessive Confection's Vegan Booty

The DL: Houston, we have a problem. If our weakness for sweets wasn't evident by our obsessions with candy bars, Chocolate Peanut Butter Mousse Bomb cake, and spiced banana pancakes, we're really in for it now. Obsessive Confection's line of creative sweets has us stoked, especially the Vegan Booty: a concoction of coconut toffee, dark chocolate, and orange peel. We better get all of our work done now, because after these incoming sugar highs pass, we're going to be useless. Looks like we're closing early, folks!
