Popsicles!

The Date: Monday, June 13
The Delivery: Whole-fruit popsicles from Power of Fruit
Staff Pick: The CherryBerry popsicles

The DL: We're finally getting some summer weather here in SF, and we're busting out the skirts and tank tops like nobody's business. These tasty-looking fruit pops, made from 100-percent whole frozen fruit with no added sugar, look like they will be a great accessory to lunches spent sunning on the VNHQ deck. Now that we think about it, they might be tasty after a happy-hour brew as well. Check out some of our favorite vegan summer pints in new featurette, 7 Vegan Summer Beers. To sunshine!

Cleaners, a Book, and Crêpes

The Date: Thursday, April 14
The Delivery: Fruit and vegetable cleaners from Eat Cleaner, Vegan Bite by Bite by Marilyn Peterson, and lentil crêpes/dosas from Health 'n Spice
Staff Pick: Eat Cleaner's fruit and vegetable wash

The DL: After reading Mat Thomas' article about food recalls in our May+June issue, all of us here at VNHQ have been more careful when washing our fruits and veggies. It's a shame we just had lunch, because we can't wait to use this all-natural spray, which removes not only wax, residue, and pesticides, but also cleans hands, countertops, and silverware! If that's not a sanitary bang for our buck, we're not sure what is. Wish you could spend your whole day with fruits and vegetables (and no, we don't just mean eating them)? Check out our featurette on sustainable food jobs to find out about all kinds of food-focused vocations!

Deodorant and Chocolate

The Date: Wednesday, February 16
The Delivery: Assorted bittersweet chocolate bars from Poco Dolce and deodorant sticks from Organic Grooming by Herban Cowboy
Staff Pick: The hazelnut bittersweet chocolate bar

The DL: Some things in life are no-brainers. Eat your veggies. Look both ways before crossing the street. Puppies are cute. Some things, however, are not. With six different delectable-sounding flavors, it was the Sophie's Choice of chocolate for today's Staff Pick. We decided to go with hazelnut because that's what we ended up pointing at while our eyes were closed. We haven't tried any yet, but as is evident by This Week's Must Have (chocolate) and an entire featurette on (you guessed it) chocolate, we'll probably be perfectly happy with all of them.

Baking Mixes and Dietary Supplements

The Date: Friday, February 4
The Delivery: Fermented Suerfood Complex supplements from Swanson Vitamins and assorted vegan baking mixes from Wholesome Chow (complete with coffee extract and a whisk for tasting mixing)
Staff Pick: The gluten-free chocolate chai spice cake mix

The DL: Getting baking mixes in the mail with the tools need to bake said mix is the coolest thing since, well, getting baking mixes in the mail. We are curious, however, to see if this chocolate- and chai-spiced gem ever makes it out of the mixing bowl. If we do manage to keep our spoons out of the batter, we bet this cake could make a great addition to any Super Bowl party. For more vegan-friendly Super Bowl dips and desserts, check out our handy guide to Super Bowl eats. Go Steelers! Or Packers! Or puppies!

Flip Flops, a Wallet, and Cookbooks

The Date: Friday, January 28
The Delivery: Flip flops from Okabashi, a wallet from The Vegan Collection, Vegan Bake Sale by Carla Kelly, and Vegan Diner by Julie Hasson
Staff Pick: Vegan Diner

The DL: Happy Friday from the VNHQ! On this chilly day the office has been craving some seriously warm comfort foodjust the kind of stuff littering the pages of Julie Hasson's new cookbook. (Psst! You might find Julie in our upcoming March+April 2011 issue.) Not only do the french fries (and burger, and potato salad...) on the cover look great, but we love a good non-dairy milkshake as much as the next person. Speaking of milkshakes: want to know which non-dairy milk works best as a base for your next chocolate-Oreo shake? Check out our handy guide to non-dairy milks.

Oat Shakes and Macaroons

The Date: Wednesday, January 19
The Delivery: Chocolate and tropical fruit OatShakes from Simpli and pomegranate, pistachio, vanilla, and cacao macaroons from Ecoterra Raw Market
Staff Pick: The macaroons!

The DL: It might be sunny and (almost) warm outside the VNHQ today, but getting these little bite-sized babies made us think of bundling up on the wintery streets of Paris. We can't help but hope that one bite will transport us to a fashionable café on the Champs-Élysées, where we will find ourselves surrounded by a mound of vegan macaroons and espresso. Speaking of being fashionable, make sure to check out some animal-free winter fashion for keeping warm in style. Au revior!
